What to expect
50ml is a small starter volume. With proper nutrients and conditions it multiplies steadily – you could start a 1000L culture with it. Most growers reach a 80 – 100 litre working volume in 8–10 weeks. First meaningful harvests typically happen around weeks 10–12.
Because this product does not include nutrients, you need to know what you are doing — or be willing to research the nutrient formulation yourself. The culture will not grow in plain water.

No. This is the culture only. You need your own starter nutrient formulation or pre-made nutrients. The 50ml Culture & Nutrient Pack and 500ml Culture & Nutrient Pack both include nutrients.

What if my culture dies in transit?
Express shipping is included to prevent this. If your culture arrives unhealthy, we will replace it. We have shipped hundreds of cultures across Australia with a near-perfect arrival rate.
How long until I can harvest?
You can begin expanding the culture immediately once nutrients are added. First proper harvests usually occur around weeks 10–12, depending on your light, temperature, and nutrient consistency.
Can I use tap water?
Tap water is fine but you will need to dechlorinate it with an additive you can buy at aquarium shops. You could start with store bought non-sparling mineral water or rain water.
Is this safe to grow at home?
Yes. Spirulina grows in alkaline conditions (pH 10+), which naturally discourage most common contaminants. It is one of the safest home cultivation projects you can undertake.
